Archive for February, 2011
After the recent cold weather, I for one am glad to see the return of warmer temperatures. Not only is it time to get into the garden, work around the yard and house, it’s also time to start thinking about the various runs coming up for 2011. IBR is being held in San Francisco in the next couple of days and for all of those who have not heard, this is the last one. For those of you who have attended past IBR’s over the years, I know you have many fond memories and have made many good friendships as well. LUEY weekend, hosted by the Houston Council of Clubs, is just around the corner, as well as TBRU in Dallas, Lonestar 23, and many many more. A little bit of something for everyone to be sure.
And not to be left out of all the fun, the HOT Bears will also hold its own run called UNRUN 7. This is our annual charitable fund-raising event, and is being held April 29th thru May 1st. Last year’s run was very successful, raising $2000 for local charities….all while having a great time too. This year we have many great volunteers who are helping plan the many events and activities for what we hope is our biggest and best UNRUN to date. And as a very special event….we would like to announce that BEARRACUDA will help kick off UNRUN immediately following the meet and greet on Friday! We still have many opportunities for members who want to help out and volunteer during the weekend,…so contact any of the officers today to see how you can help out.
If runs are not your thing, remember we still have many other opportunities for you to hang out with fellow members, and make new friends. The first breakfast has been picking up since moving back to Trudy’s and the movie nights have been really fun too….as well as the many other events we host each month. And as always, we are open to new events and opportunities to hang out, so if you have suggestions we want to hear them.
We want to hear from YOU!

We are currently accepting nominations for all officer positions for the HOT Bears Board of Directors. We have several nominations, but still need a few more people interesting in directing the club for the upcoming year. Nominations can be made in person, by email, snail mail, heck even pony express….and must be made by March 4th (30 days prior to the April Quarterly meeting). So if you are interested…contact any officer today!
With the closing of the Rusty Spur, and the loss of the Spurs-n-Fur beer bust, the HOT Bears announce the return of the Sunday afternoon Beer Bust at the Chain Drive. And this past Sunday (February 13th) our regualr Beer Bust took a bit of a twist. The Chain Drive…along with BearUps productions, and Hoboken Pie threw the HOT Bears an appreciation keg party as a way of saying THANK YOU to the bears for making Chain Drive their home bar. The weather was nice, and the bust was held on the back patio, with the view of the city skyline in the backdrop…and classic rock/pop tunes jamming on the patio speakers.
The first keg of beer, furnished by Dave McGill, the manager of the Chain Drive, was complimentary to the crowd, and was very much appreciated by all. One of the HOT Bears newest sponsors, Hoboken Pies, fed the group with 10 large FREE pizzas. Prizes furnished by Bird’s Barber Shop, Midtowne Spas, Fleshjack, and more….were also raffled out to a very appreciative crowd.
A great time was had, so be sure to join us next month.
We know yall had a great time at BEARRACUDA last month…and we hope you had a good time at the HOT Bears Trailer Trash Brush on Sunday following the big event. The HOT Bears very own Rhea Sisters hosted the event, and as you can tell, they had a good time. We also signed up new members to the group, and we ate some tasty treats served up “trailer” style….courtesy of Buscuits and Groovy and Lucky J’s Chicken and Waffles. Tito’s vodka made for some tasty Boody “Hairy’s” too! Many thanks to all the guys from BEARRACUDA!!!!
And now a word from our TCC liason….Peter Reid
Many of you have enjoyed the annual campout at Texas Conference of Clubs “Back to the Woods.” It’s a great weekend and one that I look forward too every year. There are other events at TCC you may like to consider. One of them takes place over Memorial Day weekend. It is called LoneStar.
This year, LoneStar # 23 will be a Carnival Themed 4 day 3 night campout. The current fee includes a campsite, food, beer, cocktail parties, games, and all of the camaraderie you can expect from a long weekend run. Of course there are accommodations available in the bunkhouse as well as spaces for trailers. The two shows put on will include a contest for Mr, MS, and Miss LoneStar. The event typically gets 100+ attendees.
Open to anyone over 21, LoneStar is put on by all member clubs across Texas including: Austin Gay Nudists, Bound by Desire, Chain of Command, TCC Independents, Cowtown Leathermen, Misfits, Discipline Corps, Heart Of Texas Bears, Houston Area Bears, LoneStar Leathermen, Dallas Motor Cycle Corps, Colt 45’s, Touch of Leather, and Trinity River Bears. Lead my your truly, the HOT Bears have been asked to make the Saturday morning breakfast.
I would love to have my fellow club members join me for the weekend. It’s a great way to kick off the summer. If you have any questions about the event, please feel free to email me direct. Flyfsh_peter@yahoo.com
